"Poppies... Poppies!"

In The Wizard of Oz (one of my least favorite musicals), the Wicked Witch of the West uses poppies to put Dorothy & co. to sleep.  As a kid, I didn't really think much of it, but as an adult I know that opium poppies are a thing.  I'm no botanist, but I've read a little bit about poppies.  As I understand it, the opiate properties of the latex that comes from the poppy seed pods will induce sleep, and opium and poppy straw are the primary source for all opiates... that's the primary reason that poppies, as a symbol, are associated with sleep.  So when you're admiring the common garden poppy, being awed by the majesty of nature, keep in mind that someone, somewhere, is making morphine with it.  If that doesn't make you feel good (and a little itchy), I don't know what will.

Vigilante Fashionista's Animalistik Skirt

I have zero reason to EVER look professional, but if I did, this would be how I did it.  Vigilante Fashionista's Animalistik Pencil Skirt has very subtle lines up the side that are animal print... but they don't really look like animal print, so it's not like showing up to work wearing a zebra print bikini.  I think back to all the sims I've been to with high fashion avis walking around, and know that I wouldn't have been nearly as out of place there if I'd been wearing this.  I'm not really seized by an urge to blend in, but alienation based on fashion is weird and ridiculous.  Do you find that people discriminate against you based on how you're dressed in Second Life?

Vigilante Fashionista's Octoed For Room69

The July round of Room 69 started today, and Vigilante Fashionista has three adorable offerings for you!  Today's offering: the Octoed outfit.

I've had a longstanding fascination with all things tentacled.  Humboldt squids (also called jumbo squids) are certifiable badasses that have been migrating north from their little corner of the Pacific for years now.  Octopuses can solve simple problem-solving puzzles.  Cephalopods in general are regarded as some of the most intelligent invertebrates, and they can change colors and patterns to communicate and camouflage.  In short, cephalopods are pretty much the coolest invertebrates on the planet... which is why you, with your newfound knowledge, should go pick up the Octoed set from Room69!

Room69 is a monthly circular event from the 1st to the 20th of each month.  A bunch of designers contribute with exclusive offerings that you can purchase for just 69L$!  You can check out all the products available on the Room69 blog, or you can like Room69 on Facebook!
